Hyderabad: Hero of first Twenty 20 International match between India and West Indies Virat Kohli, who scored unbeaten 94, is happy to receive high praise from legendary batsman Viv Richards. Chasing 207, Kohli played magnificent innings to help India complete the chase with eight balls and six-wicket in hand at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium, Hyderabad.
India will now look to seal the three-match series in Thiruvananthapuram winning the second T20I.
Following Kohli's unbeaten 94, Richards took to the Twitter to praise the India captain. He wrote: “Amazing. Just amazing, @imVkohli.”
The Indian batting star took heart of the appreciation from the West Indies batting great and responded: “Thanks big BOSS. Coming from you means a lot.”
On Sunday, Kohli will be on the verge of another T20I milestone when he takes to the field in the second T20I. Kohli has accumulated 975 runs in the shortest format at home. He requires 25 runs more to become first Indian cricketer to complete 1000 runs in T20Is at home.
Meanwhile, if Kohli manages to score three more runs in the 2nd T20I, he will surpass his compatriot Rohit Sharma to become the leading run-scorer in the shortest format of the game.
Rohit currently holds the record with 2,547 runs.
