Interestingly, Yashasvi not only led India to victory but also fulfilled his father's wish with a brilliant century.
Ahead of the crucial semi-final clash between the arch-rivals, Bhupendra Jaiswal, Yashasvi's father expressed his desire to see his 18-year-old son score a century against arch-rivals Pakistan.
"I told him to register a win over Pakistan and you have to make a century today. We all hope that he will make a century and beat Pakistan," Bhupendra told media ahead of the match.
Yashasvi's father said he wants his son to feature in the Indian cricket team and make the country proud.
"He has worked really hard and we want him to feature in the Indian cricket team and make the country proud," he said.
Yashasvi has played five games and scored 312 runs in the premier tournament so far with an impressive average of 156. The 18-year-old batsman has smashed one century and three fifties till now.
Meanwhile, India will now face either Bangladesh or New Zealand whose semi-final match will be played on Thursday. The final is scheduled to be played on Sunday.
