Johannesburg: Proteas uncapped wicket-keeper Rudi Second will now miss the tour of India in October due to an injury. Henrich Klaasen is set to replace him, Cricket South Africa (CSA) have announced.
Earlier, CSA had announced the touring squad on August 13 to play three tests against India in October and Second was initially a part of it. However, Second injured himself while practising with the South Africa A side.
As per reports, he will require immediate surgery and thus has been ruled out from the touring party.
Heinrich Klaasen will now replace Second as a keeper-batsman in the squad. CSA's acting Director of Cricket Corrie Van Zyl added: "Klaasen is part of the one-day squad for the South Africa A tour and he will now be added to the squad in Second's place for the four-day series that will assist his preparation for the Proteas Test series".
The series is set to begin from October 2 in Visakhapatnam. CSA have also confirmed about the other venues for the matches, such as the second test is now set to be played in Pune (October 10-14) while the final test will be held in Ranchi ( October 19-23).
Before the Test tour, South Africa is also set to play three T20 Internationals from September 15 to 22. Klassen has already represented his country in 14 ODIs and nine T20Is, however, he is still to make his Test debut. He has appeared in 105 first-class games scoring 6893 runs at an average of 45.05.
