Brampton (Canada): The match between Montreal Tigers and Winnipeg Hawks was delayed amid a bomb threat on Friday in the Global T20 Canada.
The match was delayed by 90 minutes after security issues were detected inside the stadium. While the players were asked not to take the field, the spectators meanwhile were lined waiting outside the stadium.
Earlier, the official twitter account of Global T20 Canada tweeted claiming that the delay was due to some technical issues. However, as per a report, a suspicious package was found inside the stadium which delayed the proceedings as the police closed the venue to perform a check. Even bomb-sniffing dogs were brought into action during the security check.
Later the match was reduced to a 12-over-affair, however, the match was conducted smoothly. The Tigers were being led by former Australian skipper George Bailey and posted a challenging total of 135 in 12 overs after being invited to bat first by the Hawks.
In reply, the Hawks could only manage 111/5 in 12 overs as Montreal went on to win by 24 runs.
