Hyderabad: The announcement of Pavitra Rishta opened floodgates of trolls for actor Ankita Lokhande. Fans of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput claimed that Ankita is encashing on late actor's name for personal publicity and gain. Sushant's sister Shweta Singh Kriti, however, has extended support to Ankita who dated Sushant for nearly six years before parting ways in 2016.
Soon after the announcement of Ankita being back to shoot for the new season of Pavitra Rishta, fans of SSR reacted sharply on social media. The news agitated Sushant's fans who say they won't accept any other actor in the role of Manav, a character originally essayed by the late actor and trended hashtag Boycott Pavitra Rishta 2 expressing their displeasure. Fans also alleged that Ankita and the makers of the show are cashing in on Sushant's death for publicity and monetary gain.

While netizens are slamming Ankita, SSR's sister Shweta continued to be by the actor's side. When a user on social media asked Shweta about why she supports Ankita, SSR's US-based sister replied, "Drdivya I really don’t know what the truth is....but it is hard for me to overlook how Ankita has always stood by the family even after the death of Bhai. I have seen her take care of Bhai, once when I was visiting him in Mumbai and he had stomach pain I saw how she called the doc, gave him medicine and showered him with love. The act was enough to prove to me that she has a kind and loving heart."
She further wrote, "I have full faith in the CBI and I am waiting for them to tell us the truth. I am praying to God every day so that the truth comes out and I believe there is no bigger power than him. Have faith and stay strong."
While Ankita reprises her role as Archana, actor Shaheer Sheikh has been roped in to play Manav Deshmukh, the character originally played by Sushant and later by Hiten Tejwani.
