Chennai: Famed playback singer and Padma awardee S.P. Balasubrahmanyam's health condition deteriorates, said MGM Healthcare, a private hospital in the city.
According to MGM's press release, SPB, who had been admitted at the hospital on August 5, remains on ECMO and other life support measures. His condition in the last 24 hours has deteriorated further warranting maximal life support and he is extremely critical. The team of experts at MGM healthcare are closely monitoring his health condition.
Earlier this month, family, friends and fans of SPB exhaled a sigh of relief when he had tested COVID-19 negative. With the news of his health again being critical, the social media is flooded with wishes of his speedy recovery.

Honoured with Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan awards in 2001 and 2011 respectively, SPB has won six National Film Awards for the best male playback singer and several other state awards. He has recorded over 40,000 songs in 16 languages over a period of five decades.
His fans are praying for SPB to get well soon and start singing.
