Hyderabad: Actor Neena Gupta has revealed one of the most horrible things her then-boyfriend told her once. The Badhaai Ho actor, who has singlehandedly raised her daughter Masaba Gupta, has opened up about the mean things she had to hear from people for being unconventional in her choices.
Neena had Masaba after her brief relationship with former West Indies cricketing icon Vivian Richards in the eighties. Later, Neena went on to marry Vivek Mehra. During her appearance on a dating web show, The Last Color actor talked about the nasty things people said to her in past.
"A boyfriend of mine... We were fighting and he said nastily to me 'you are still on the shelf!' I will never forget that! It is horrible. Nobody is waiting to be picked up," said the actor who married Vivek, a chartered accountant and partner with PwC India at the age of 48.

The actor also shared that "companionship, support and somebody to lean on" are her most favourite things about being married. "What I realised after a few years of marriage is, you don’t depend on him for your happiness. You do your thing. At least, he is not stopping me from doing my thing," she added.

In 2017, Neena had shocked everyone when she took to social media and confessed openly that she was out of work. A comeback for her happened soon, with Veere Di Wedding and Badhaai Ho. Since then, she has had busy second innings.
