Mumbai: After two years of their separation, Kate Elizabeth Hallam reveals what went wrong between her and estranged husband Lucky Ali.

Kate, in an interview with a leading publication, opened up on what led her to take the decision to walk out of Lucky's life whom she got married in 2010.

The British model said that it all began with a prophecy by her friend when she was in the Middle East. According to the prediction, Kate had it in her fate that she would marry an Indian and have a child with him. And that is how Maqsood (Lucky's real name) entered in her life.

“I was a foreigner in a new land, totally drawn by India’s beauty and mysticism... so, it felt right to get married when Maqsood proposed. At that point, I did not know who Lucky Ali was, nor his popularity in India, I had married Maqsood,”

Kate further added that she belongs to a family that deeply believes in the institution of marriage. Watching her parents happily married for five decades instilled in her longing for "a man who is not divided between three families, but a man who is focused on one family."

Before Kate, Lucky has been married twice. His first marriage happened in 1996, to Meaghan Jane McCleary, and the second in 2000, to Anahita.

According to Kate, she respects Lucky's former wives but she is not as strong as them to drag the relationship with an emotionally divided individual.

Kate had moved on with all the positive things that her union with Lucky had to offer her. She said her relationship with Ali taught her a lot and helped her enhance her faith.

“People think women are foolish to enter a marriage where there are other wives, but that is not the case. It takes a lot of inner strength to be in such a relationship and it taught me a lot, mentally and spiritually. I attained spiritual enlightenment from my experiences in India, it enhanced my faith. Talking about the equation we share today, there is regular contact, as we want the best for our son. There is no animosity.”

Post separation, Kate is single-handedly raising her eight-year-old son Dani who has a funny side to him, like his late grandfather Mehmood. The estranged couple makes sure that the child doesn't have to bear the brunt of a failed relationship.

“Dani, who is eight now, is a caring, and sensitive soul. He has a funny side to him, like his late grandfather Mehmood. Dani takes everything in his stride. Also, he gets a lot of love from both Maqsood and I, so he doesn’t feel vulnerable. He enjoys the best of both worlds.”

Kate and Lucky ended their seven-year-long marriage in 2017. Hallam has moved on in life and is apparently happily married to record producer and engineer David Tickle with whom she has a two-month-old son, Jaxon James Tickle.

Talking about the new beginning, Kate had said: "This is the happy family I always wanted, where the man focuses only on one family."
