Mumbai: Reportedly, filmmaker and Dharma head honcho Karan Johar has handed in his resignation to MAMI (Mumbai Academy Of Moving Image). The director, who was previously extremely active on social media have become quiet after the backlash he received after young actor Sushant Singh Rajput's death.
He has been part of the board for sometime but in the current scenario – raging debates on nepotism on social media and merciless troll attacks – Karan, it is believed, has tendered his resignation to the prestigious annual film festival.

According to sources, MAMI chairperson and actor Deepika Padukone tried to convince Karan to stay back but it turns out the director had already made up his mind.
Besides KJo, Sonam Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Sonakshi Sinha, Varun Dhawan have also been receiving a lot of hate online and have lost a lot of followers on social media.
Sonakshi has quit Twitter, many like KJo and Sonam limited their comments section on Instagram.
