Sushant Singh Rajput's sudden demise sparked a nepotism debate on social media and fans expressed their anger by unfollowing director Karan Johar and Gully Boy actor Alia Bhatt on various social media platforms.

Mumbai: Actor Sushant Singh Rajput's untimely death has reignited the debate on nepotism and many a stars have come forward to raise the issue on social media. It seems to have affected the social media following of many Bollywood celebrities including Karan Johar and Alia Bhatt.

Karan Johar's Instagram account registered a drop in followers on Instagram, from 11 million to 10.6 million. Alia Bhatt also recorded a decline in her fans on social media with her Instagram profile now having a following of 48.3 million from 47.9.

The numbers are changing dynamically as you read this story, since social media users are enraged by the non-recognition of outsider talent in Bollywood.

On the other hand, there has been surge of social media followers on Instagram for Sushant Singh Rajput. The actor's following went from 9 million to 12.2 million in the past few days.

Meanwhile, Kangana Ranaut gained the maximum number of followers in the past few days. The actor had shared a video on Sushant Singh Rajput's demise and had called Chhichhore the best film. She also questioned award shows about not giving due credit to Sushant's film and giving all awards to Gully Boy.

She recently opened up to a leading portal on how the bigwigs of Bollywood ganged up on Sushant to corner him. "If the investigations are done, I will speak about it openly because there's enough proof in the media. Everyone knows who are the ones who ganged up on him," Ranaut said.
