Mumbai: Actor Deepika Padukone, who recently added another feather to her hat, has been felicitated with the 26th Annual Crystal Award for raising mental health awareness.

The Love Aaj Kal star is the only Indian actor to feature in Davos 2020 winners list.

Honoured to receive the award, an elated Deepika said: "I am humbled and deeply honoured to be chosen for this year's Crystal Award and dedicate the award to the millions around the world who experience stress, anxiety and depression, and other forms of mental illness."

Speaking on the issue of mental health, the 33-year-old actor said: "With more than 300 million people suffering with the illness, depression is the leading cause of ill health and disability in the world today and a major contributor to the overall global burden of disease."

"It is therefore increasingly clear that now more than ever before, we need to aggressively address what is an invisible and overlooked health and social burden," she added.

Voicing her opinion on the importance of mental health, the actor started her organisation titled The Live Love Laugh Foundation in 2015.

The Padmaavat actor has launched a nationwide awareness and de-stigmatisation campaign through the program. Her foundation also works towards raising awareness about mental health disorders of the adolescents and also organising training sessions, research and lecture series by eminent thinkers and achievers.

On the work front, the actor is awaiting the release of Chhapaak helmed by the Raazi director Meghna Gulzar. Based on the life of acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal, the film is co-produced by Deepika and Fox Star Studios.

She will also be seen in Kabir Khan's 83 opposite Ranveer Singh.

Apart from Deepika, artist Theaster Gates and choreographer Jin Xing have also been felicitated with the Annual Crystal Award.
