Ganesh Chaturthi is being celebrated across the country and scores of popular faces from the industry including Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Madhuri Dixit, Manushi Chillar and several others took to social media to wish fans on the auspicious occasion.

Mumbai: As the ten-day celebrations for Ganesh Chaturthi begins today, several Bollywood celebrities hopped on to social media to extend warm wishes to one and all.

Extending greetings for the festival, legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan posted few pictures from the celebration. Alongside the photo, he wrote: "Ganapati Bappa Moreya..."

Wishing health, happiness and prosperity, actor Hema Malini tweeted: "The most loved god of the hindu pantheon, Ganesh ji is the harbinger of good and is worshipped far and wide with fervour. May this Ganesh Chaturthi bring u all health, happiness & prosperity & save u from evil. Happy Ganesh Chaturthi."

"Ganpati Bappa Morya #HappyGaneshChaturthi," wrote Ajay Devgn as he shared a video of himself entering the pandal and offering prayers to diety.

Kajol too extended greetings on the festival. "This year, we need the 'Dukh Harta' to take away our problems & bless us with better times... Wishing safety & peace for all. #HappyGaneshChaturthi," she wrote.

Urging people to maintain social distancing, Akshay Kumar noted: "#HappyGaneshChaturthi to you and your family. Please continue maintaining social distancing, avoid inviting people home and visiting people's homes. May our Vighnaharta help us tide over these difficult times. Ganpati Bappa Morya!"

Sharing a throwback picture with her father from an earlier Ganesh Chaturthi celebration, Priyanka Chopra tweeted: "Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations this year might be different from the usual but the spirit and faith will always remain the same. May this festival bring a new beginning for all of us.#HappyGaneshChaturthi."

The Kalank actor Madhuri Dixit posted: "Ganpati Bappa MauryaBappa's arrival will be a little different this year as we fight through the pandemic. I'm remembering moments from previous years' celebrations with friends, family & on sets. Wish you all a very blessed #GaneshChaturthi. Celebrate responsibly & stay safe."

Actor Paresh Rawal posted a picture of Lord Ganesha's idol adorned with flowers on Twitter.

Urging people to take precautions amid the celebrations, Urmila Matondkar shared: "Will miss #Ganesha darshan at #Mumbai pandals. Request to all to please take necessary precautions during this beautifully pious time against #COVID19 .#HappyGaneshChaturthi #gnnptii_baappaa_moryaa."

"Wishing you all a safe & blessed Ganesh Chaturthi with lines from my favouritest Marathi Ganpati song sung by our nightingale @lata_mangeshkar Ji," wrote Vidya Balan on Instagram.

Anupam Kher too extended greetings on the festival. He wrote: "Wish you all a very happy Ganesh Chaturthi. I wish you and your family happiness, prosperity, good health and peace of mind. Ganpati Bappa Morya !! # HappyGaneshChaturthi."

Suniel Shetty asked fans to celebrate an eco-friendly Ganesh Chaturthi. He tweeted: "Nature is the art of God. Let's protect it.#EcoFriendlyGaneshChaturthi."

"Ganpati celebrations might be a little different this year... But Tim made sure the festival was on point by making a beautiful lego Ganeshji for us..." wrote Kareena Kapoor on Instagram as she posted an adorable picture of Taimur offering prayers to the Lego-made idol.

Praying for peace and health and safety for everyone, the Good Newwz actor noted: " Wishing you all a very happy Ganesh Chaturthi. Praying for peace, everyone's health and safety."

Former Miss World Manushi Chhillar took to Instagram to share several pictures from the Ganesh Chaturthi celebration at her house.

"My parents always wanted me to experience different cultures and celebrate them. I'm from Haryana but Mumbai is my home too. This is the first year that I'm keeping Ganpati at home and I couldn't be happier," she wrote in the caption.

"Celebrating festivals like this is very important because it brings people and cultures closer but if we can celebrate it in the most eco-friendly way, we will also contribute towards nature conservation," she added.

Manushi further told that her eco-friendly Ganesh idol has seeds embedded in it.

"My idol has seeds embedded in it so I'm going to do the Visarjan at home in a clay tree pot. I'm looking forward to nurture the seeds well so that life sprouts from it. #HappyGaneshChaturthi," she wrote.

The 10-day-long festival of Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated with much grandeur in Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Gujarat among other states.
