Amitabh Bachchan recalls father's words to fill his empty nights

Bollywood veteran Amitabh Bachchan remembered a few lines penned by his father Harivansh Rai Bachchan to heal the wounds of his loneliness. The actor is currently spending his days in isolation at a hospital in Mumbai.

Mumbai: As the feeling of loneliness and emptiness crept up within the four walls of the hospital isolation room, actor Amitabh Bachchan on Sunday reminisced few fond memories of his father.

Taking to Twitter, the legendary actor shared a video of himself reading the poems penned by his father, while his recitation continues to play in the background.

The musical rendition of the poem Hai Andheri Raat Par Diva Jalana Kab Mana Hai will surely touch many hearts.

Alongside the video, senior Bachchan wrote: "Babuji ki kavita ke kuch pal. Woh isi tarah gaya karte the kavi sammelan mein. Hospital ke akelepan mein unki bohot yaad aati hai, aur unhi ke shabdon se apni sooni raaton ko aabad karta hoon (Some moments of my father’s poem. He used to sing just like this at gatherings of poets. I miss him dearly during my loneliness in the hospital, and I use his words to fill my empty nights)."

For the unversed, Amitabh Bachchan, his son Abhishek Bachchan, daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and granddaughter Aaradhya Bachchan are currently undergoing treatment at Nanavati hospital in Mumbai.

In his blogpost, the Bollywood veteran revealed that how not seeing a human being for weeks can affect the mental state of the patient. The actor said that he utilises the opportunity to sing in darkness.

"In the darkness of the night and the shiver of the cold room, I sing... eyes shut in attempted sleep... there is no one about or around... and the freedom to be able to do that will extend I know if in the Will of the Almighty there is a release," he wrote.
