Hyderabad: Filmmaker Om Raut is set out to take the audience to the era of Satyug with his upcoming film Adipurush. The film will feature Baahubali fame Prabhas as Lord Ram while Saif Ali Khan will be essaying the role of Lankesh. Even before Adipurush could go on floors, the makers had to tender an apology after a certain statement of Saif had created a stir on social media.
Om spoke to a film critic about why he wanted to make a film based on the Ramayana and what made him cast Prabhas in the film. In the interview, he also spoke about the trouble that Saif invited for the team when his statement about humanising Ravan in the film irked a section of society.

"As a filmmaker, you want to be protective. I mean, as a writer-director you want to be proactive and you want to let your piece of art to do the speaking versus you know... kind of being in the limelight before (release)," said Om about the controversy surrounding Adipurush.

"I like to be the fifth wall personally and that's the reason I chose to be a filmmaker so that I can be behind and do whatever I want to do. I personally don't like the attention that one might get. Definitely unnecessary attention and definitely something which we don't want. We want to be on the backside and let the cinema do the talking that should be at the forefront and that's always a preferred situation. But guess life is not fair always. Things go wrong and one has to face it and that's what it is," Om explained.

He further said, " If you have a pure heart and you know what you are doing and if you have sanctity" when talking about the belief of millions of people one treats it as a huge responsibility.
The director also said that the team will commence shooting later this month and the audience will get to know who plays the role of Sita in the film in a few days. The reports, however, suggest that Kriti Sanon has already undergone a workshop for the role of Sita in Adipurush.
Adipurish will be released in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada. The film is jointly produced by Bhushan Kumar, Om Raut, Prasad Sutar and Rajesh Nair.
