Case against tribal youths for assaulting elephants

Tirupur district forest officials have registered a case against three tribal youths on charges of assaulting elephants. Their action came after a video of the youths pelting stones at and caning elephants went viral on social media. This incident took place recently near the Amanalingeswarar Temple located on the Thirumoorthy Hills of Western Ghats in Tirupur, Tamil Nadu. The youths have been booked under the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972.
