Mumbai fishermen accidentally net giant whale shark

A fishing trawler in the Arabian Sea, around 40-50 km off Colaba, accidentally netted a giant whale shark found to weigh over 2 tonnes on Tuesday night. The giant dotted whale shark got entangled in the fishing nets and failed to free itself. Owing to darkness and inclement weather, the trawler dragged the whale to Mumbai and reached Sassoon Docks in Colaba on Wednesday. Later, a crane hoisted up the massive fish and laid it on the docks as curious fishermen gathered around the carcass to click selfies.
