Lelhar Encounter: Viral Video of surrender offer to hiding militants

Two militants surrendered during an encounter in Lelhar in south Kashmir's Pulwama district, a video of which is now viral on social networking sites. A video circulating on social media shows a relative of one militant, appealing to them to surrender. The video was filmed inside a security vehicle. In the video, the young man says, "Throw the weapon out of the window and come out. No one will harm you." Although one militant was injured in the initial firing, both later surrendered. On its official Twitter handle, Kashmir Zone Police said that the two militants surrendered to police and security forces in Lelhar. The militants who surrendered have been identified as Rauf Sheikh and Akeel Ahmed of Pulwama District. Both militants are said to be affiliated with Hizbul Mujahideen.
