Two days after an agitated mob attacked and spat on a team of health workers who came to collect the swab samples in Kerala's coastal area, Poonthura residents apologised for the incident and welcomed the health workers by showering flowers and offering them bouquets on Sunday. Led by Anthoni Adimai Bebinson, vicar of Poonthura, locals gathered in front of the testing centre and accorded a warm reception to the health team. On Friday, the team was targeted by the angry locals who were protesting alleging non-availability of essential items and ill-treatment at health centres. Poonthura which is located in the coastal region of Kerala’s capital reported around 200 COVID-19 cases and was declared containment zone.
