Villagers deny cremation of elderly woman over Covid-19 fear in Andhra Pradesh

Tension prevailed in Sattenapalle village after locals opposed the cremation of an elderly woman at the local crematorium on Sunday. According to reports, the elderly woman died due to age-related ailments at Guntur government hospital. When the family members carried her body to the cremation ground, the villagers over Covid-19 fear locked the crematorium and prevented the grieving family members from taking the body inside. The local police reached the spot and tried hard to convince the villagers but they didn't pay heed. According to the villagers, three people who were cremated on the same ground were later tested positive of the deadly virus.
