Mumbai gets its first driverless Metro train

Mumbai (Maharashtra): Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray inaugurated the first driverless metro in Mumbai today. State Tourism Minister Aaditya Thackeray and other ministers from the state were present at the ceremony held at Charkop car shed. Trial run of this metro will be conducted in February 2021. The metro will run on Metro 2A and Metro 7 routes. Next May the train will actually start serving Mumbaikars. This is the first-ever indigenous driverless metro. Bengaluru based BEML is building the metro coaches. BEML will build 84 metro cars under contract.
