WATCH - Odisha MLA's 'Lakhimpur Kheri' moment

In what was almost a repeat of Lakhimpur Kheri, Prashant Jagdev, a suspended BJD MLA, ploughed his car into a crowd at a Panchayat Samiti election venue in Khurda district on Saturday. At least 22 people were injured in the incident that took place outside Banpur's block office. The outraged crowd assaulted the Chilika MLA who, they claimed, was intoxicated. Jagdev was behind the wheels on his way to the office when he tried to run over the crowd. A video shows the vehicle ploughing through the crowd before coming to a halt. Following it, the angry people thrashed the MLA and destroyed his SUV. The people could be seen kicking and punching him, while a few tried to hit him with sticks. It took the local police some effort to save the MLA from the angry mob but not before he was gravely injured.
