Sun-gazing Solar Orbiter makes first close approach

Europe and NASA's Solar Orbiter spacecraft has made its first close approach to the Sun, getting as close as 77 million kilometres. The joint mission aims to give close-up views of the Sun's polar regions and observe its magnetic activity for the first time.
