Market Roundup: Stocks close in the red, gold rises slightly

Hyderabad: Amid India-China face-off, Indian equity benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty closed in the red on Wednesday. At the closing, while Sensex lost 97 points the much broader Nifty closed 36 points or 0.4% lower at 9,877. Gold rose marginally by Rs 18 to Rs 48,220 per 10 grams in the national capital.Petrol and diesel prices rose for the eleventh straight day across the cities.
