Indira Gandhi served as the first and only woman Prime Minister of India from January 1966 to March 1977 and again from January 1980 until her assassination by her two Sikh bodyguards, Satwant Singh and Beant Singh on October 31, 1984. Soon after her death, a riot broke out in Delhi in which over 2,800 Sikhs were killed. However, the locals claimed that the death toll was between 8,000 to 17,000. On her 36th death anniversary, ETV Bharat reached Singh Sabha Gurdwara in Trilokpuri where the old photos of those who were killed in the massacre were placed.
