Thaipusam festival kicks off in Tamil Nadu

Tamil Nadu: The three-day Thaipusam festival kicked off on Saturday with flags being raised at temples cross Tamil Nadu in honour of Lord Murugan signifying the beginning of the annual Hindu festival. Lakhs of devotees thronged temples dedicated to Lord Murugan, especially the Arupadai Veedu (the six abodes of the deity) temples in the state. Special prayers and 'Abhishekams' were performed at all six abodes of the Lord.
