Dr. Rahul Reddy, andrologist, Androcare and Andrology Institute, Hyderabad explains that few men of the new generation complain more about sexual dysfunction. Earlier matters related to sex and the intercourse were discussed in private and it happened to be an embarrassing act. But this day technology brought in many ways to enable one to understand sex.
Dr. Reddy says, “Few men tend to watch porn and learn about sex. They understand that sex and the act, through a porn film and when they have intercourse in real life, they get disappointed. This happens because many men compare their sexual desires and intercourse with porn and live in a false imagination”.
He added, “A majority of men don’t understand that sex in real life and what’s shown in a reel is completely different. They believe and imagine sex to be the way it is shown in a porn film. Comparing the organ size and performance with that of a porn film are reasons why this generation men have sexual dysfunction”.
Other factors include lack of exercise and habits like smoking and drinking alcohol which affects male sexual health, while early masturbation is another concern. Men who masturbate from a very young age can have effects on their sexual health as they grow old and this is another major reason for sexual dysfunction.
There are four types of sexual dysfunction in men. But the factors affecting them are too many. Many youngsters enthusiastically take protein powders that are recommended and are readily available at gyms and workout places. These powders can affect their sexual health.
Few exercises, like weight lifting, can hamper sexual health in men. Lifting heavy weights builds muscle mass but also requires a lot of testosterone in the process. The lower the testosterone the lower the sex drive and which is why lifting heavy weights can affect sexual health. Though protein powders are used to help build the muscle mass, these powders use the male sex hormone, testosterone to build the muscle alone, making it unavailable for the sexual act, causing sexual dysfunction.
Exercises like cardio, walking, swimming, jogging, skipping are known to boost hormone production. While lifting heavy weights to increase the muscle tends to weaken the testosterone levels and this will affect the sexual health in males,” says Dr. Reddy.
Lifestyle changes, regular exercises and a good diet are proven to help both men and women to have an active sexual life. Stress can hamper this cycle and which is why mediation and yoga are recommended by most doctors to have a calm and peaceful state of mind. It’s important that youngsters understand that sexual life is different from what is shown in adult movies and making changes to their lifestyles can help them have a healthy mind and a happy sexual life,” concluded Dr. Reddy.
