Kolkata: Cyclone Yaas likely to hit the coast of Digha on May 26. The depression has intensified from the eastern middle of the Bay of Bengal and turned into a deep depression this morning.

It is now located 590 km from Paradwip and 690 km from Balasore. And, 670 km from the south and south-east of Digha. Alipore Meteorological Office said the deep depression would intensify into a cyclone by Monday morning. And it will move north-west after becoming a cyclone.

In the next 24 hours, the cyclone will become stronger and will turn into a super cyclone.

Sanjeev Bandyopadhyay, head of the Alipore Meteorological Office, said the cyclone will move very close to the coast of Odisha and West Bengal on the morning of May 26.

Yaas will make landfall on the afternoon of 26 May. It will enter through the West Bengal-Odisha coast, between Paradwip and Sagar Island. And it is likely to hit on the Digha coast. After entering the land in the afternoon, the wind speed expected near 155 to 160 kmph.
