New Delhi: A BJP delegation led by Kailash Vijayvargiya, BJP's Central Observer for West Bengal on Tuesday apprised President Ram Nath Kovind of the "deteriorating" law and order situation in West Bengal with respect to the death of an MLA in the state.

The delegation met the President and also handed over a memorandum to him.

This comes in the wake of BJP leader and Hemtabad MLA Debendra Nath Ray's body found hanging outside his residence in the Uttar Dinajpur district on Monday.

Earlier yesterday, Kailash Vijayvargiya had demanded a CBI inquiry into the death of the MLA.

Earlier yesterday, senior BJP leader Debendra Nath Ray was found hanging near his home in Hemtabad area of North Dinajpur district.

Ray had contested and won the Hemtabad assembly segment -- a reserved seat for Scheduled Castes -- on a CPI(M) ticket but had switched over to the BJP last year after the Lok Sabha polls. He, however, did not resign as CPI(M) legislator in the state assembly.
