Purulia: Home to self-made artisans, the Sugnibasa village residents come together every year to beautify their homes by simply painting their walls.
As part of a festival celebration, along with a cleaning drive, people paint their home walls as well.
Here, the residents aim to keep their houses 'colourful' and 'clean'.
Unfortunately, this village lacks sanitation facilities with no toilets even in one household.
One of the residents, Ashtami Kisku says, "This is an annual ritual and we basically do this to beautify our houses."
These self-made artists, receive no special allowance but gather resources with the little money they own.
Another female resident, Ramani Kisku says, "We make various colours and paint the walls ourselves without any external help."
She also said that the paintings typically depict folklores and fables from legends.
The coloured paintings along with clean surroundings provides a pictureque view of the village.
