Durgapur: A person was lynched in West Bengal's Durgapur district amidst the chant of 'What is your caste,' ringing aloud throughout the act.
According to reports, Binod Anand, the victim fled the Drugapur Subdivision hospital during treatment and was reported missing by his family members.
After two days, his body was recovered by the police and was taken to subdivision hospital, where he was declared brought dead.
The mob lynching incident came to light when a video of the incident went viral on social media.
In the video, the angry mob can be seen frivolously questioning Anand's caste and religion to which he replies, "I am a Hindu."
According to police sources, Anand died of injuries sustained during the attack. Meanwhile, DCP Abhishek Gupta has said that investigations are underway in the matter.
