Mamata Banerjee neither owns a house nor vehicle, shows affidavit

According to the affidavit filed on Friday, the current bank balance of the chief minister is currently on the declining side. Currently, her bank balance stands at Rs 13,11,512.

Kolkata: In an affidavit filed by Mamta Banerjee with her nomination papers for the Bhabani by-elections, the West Bengal Chief Minister has declared that she neither owns a house nor vehicle.

However, she declared that her income in the financial year 2020-21 increased from what it was in 2019-20. She mentioned about her income while she contested from Nandigram in the 2021 West Bengal assembly polls which concluded in May this year. Since then her income has increased by Rs 5 lakh as per the latest affidavit which she filed on Friday.

In 2019- 20, her declared income was Rs 10,34,370. In 2020-21 that rose to Rs 16,47,845. In the affidavit that she filed with her nomination during the 2016 West Bengal assembly elections, the income was Rs 8,18,300, but in 2019-19, the income increased significantly to Rs 20,71,010.

According to the affidavit filed on Friday, the current bank balance of the chief minister is currently on the declining side. Currently, her bank balance stands at Rs 13,11,512. During the Nandigram elections that amount was Rs 13,53,000. At the same time, her cash in hand was Rs 69,255. During the 2016 West Bengal assembly election her bank balance was Rs 27,61,000.

Similarly, the quantum of her moveable and immoveable properties have also declined during that same period. During the 2016 West Bengal assembly elections, her quantum of property was Rs 30,75,00. Before the 2021 West Bengal assembly elections it declined to Rs 16,72,352.11, which has now again declined to Rs 15,38,029. The property includes 9.7 grams of gold ornaments. She also does not have any loan with any bank or financial institution.
