Kailash Vijayvargiya's absence from BJP's crucial state committee meeting has led to the strengthening of the apprehension that he might be removed from his post of party's central observer for West Bengal.

Kolkata: BJP’s central observer for West Bengal, Kailash Vijayvargiya, has skipped the crucial state committee meeting of the party that started here on Tuesday morning and is expected to continue till late evening. His absence has led to the strengthening of the apprehension that he might be removed from his chair of BJP’s central observer for West Bengal. However, the official statement in this regard is expected only after the completion of the meeting, which is being virtually attended by BJP’s national president JP Nadda.

Similarly, Rajib Bandopadhyay, who joined BJP from Trinamool before the elections, also skipped the meeting. BJP state president Dilip Ghosh confirmed that though Bandopadhyay was forwarded the link of the meeting he did not attend it. Since the election results were announced Bandopadhyay had been singing in mysterious notes with clear indications of his intention to go back to Trinamool.

Meanwhile, since the beginning of the meeting, it was clear that BJP’s central leadership wants to give equal importance to the state BJP president, Dilip Ghosh and the leader of opposition in the West Bengal Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari. The flex at the backdrop of the meeting had pictures of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, JP Nadda, Dilip Ghosh and Suvendu Adhikari.

The congratulatory note that was given while presenting the political proposals at the meeting referred to Adhikari's name thrice, while Ghosh’s name was referred only once. The first congratulatory note was for both Ghosh and Adhikari for leading the saffron team in the recently concluded state assembly polls. In the second congratulatory note, Adhikari’s name was referred to with praise for getting elected as the leader of the opposition. On the final note, Adhikari was again congratulated for defeating Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee from the Nandigram Assembly constituency.
