Kolkata: Right after the abrogation of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir, Centre issued circulars to the states to look after the welfare and security of the Kashmiris residing in the respective states. Following the order, Jadavpur University decided to give preference to Kashmiri students with regard to hostel facilities.
Registrar of Jadavpur University Sneha Manju Basu said, "Every year there are many students from Jammu and Kashmir who take admission in our University. Most of them are admitted here under PM Special Scolarship."
"This year, there are about 10-12 students who were admitted under this scolarship," she added.
As there are limited seats reserved under Hostel provisions, many of them had to stay outside.
However, as students are facing issues with fund transfer, the university issued a notification, providing students from Kashmir the preference in hostel seat allotments.
Along with this, sufficient security will be provided to each student within the facility.
