New Delhi: With the BJP making inroads in West Bengal in the recently concluded Lok Sabha polls, Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief Mamata Banerjee has opted for a new strategy to counter the saffron party with the slogan "Didi Ke Bolo" (Tell Didi).
In an exclusive interview with ETV Bharat, TMC MP Sudip Bandopadhay said, "Mamata Banerjee has adopted a new idea "Didi Ke Bolo" (Tell Didi). We are getting thousands of calls every minute from different places. In fact, our leaders have been asked to go to villages to talk to people. Thus, we hope we will come back with more strength."
He added that all the leaders of the party have been asked to get involved with the masses.
"It is true, in the last general election we were over confident. We need to understand what people want. But we will definitely come back. Mamata Banerjee is working for the welfare of the people. She has also decided to give 50 per cent of her time for the organisation."
Referring to the recent Karnataka development, Bandopadhay said that BJP tried to capture West Bengal and Odisha too.
"We still can't believe that BJP got these seats in West Bengal," he said.
Taking a dig at the central government, he said, "Nobody in the House is allowed to speak or even raise their voice against the government. These are the bad affects of good majority."
The TMC MP also accused the BJP of trying to run a one-party system in the House. "Without any proper scrutiny, the Bills are being passed. The Government is not allowing anybody to study. In fact, nobody knows what Bill will come next," he said.
