Kolkata: Trinamool Congress is going all out to gain power in Tripura in the coming assembly elections in the state. Now, armed with the statistics of post-poll violence in West Bengal and the NHRC report, the BJP will start a campaign against TMC in Tripura.

The NHRC report, which had held several heavyweight Trinamool leaders and ministers directly responsible for instigating post-poll violence in the state, will be the principal weapon of BJP in running this campaign in Tripura.

At the same time, in the new campaign, BJP will also project how West Bengal has progressed backwards during the last 10 years of the Trinamool Congress regime. The West Bengal and Tripura units of BJP will jointly spearhead this movement. Wherever Trinamool will conduct any rally in Tripura, BJP will conduct a counter-rally at the same venue on the very next day.

On this issue, BJP’s state general secretary, Sayantan Basu told ETV Bharat that West Bengal has progressed backwards by 100 years during the last 10 years of the Trinamool Congress regime.

“The people of Tripura should know that. Now, Mamata Banerjee is dreaming to be the prime minister of the country. So she is focusing on Tripura. But I will explain to the people of Tripura about the real situation in West Bengal. We will tell them that vote for Trinamool will mean another Bengal-like situation there. We, from Bengal, will go to Tripura and take part in this new campaign. We will highlight the precarious condition of Bengal in every sphere,” he said.

BJP sources said that BJP’s state president in Tripura, Manik Saha and the leader of opposition in the West Bengal assembly, Suvendu Adhikari already had a round of discussion on this matter. Senior BJP leader Kishor Kar, who was earlier in charge of West Bengal, has now been given the charge of Tripura as the state general secretary there. Kar will lead the new campaign line of the party there.
