Woman mountaineer from Uttarkashi scales Mount Lhotse

Savita Kanswal, a resident of Uttarkashi in Uttarakhand has scaled Mount Lhotse, the world's fourth-highest peak. She's currently employed at the Nehru Institute of Mountaineering (NIM) as an instructor.

Uttarkashi (Uttarakhand): Savita Kanswal who hails from Uttarkashi's Longharu village on Wednesday scaled Mount Lhotse, the world's fourth-highest peak.

She successfully climbed the world's fourth-highest peak Mount Lhotse (8516 meters) with her team as part of the Everest Massif Expedition.

Mountaineer Savita Kanswal's father Radheshyam Kanswal is a farmer while Maa Kamleshwari Devi is a housewife. Savita's parents are very happy with her success, as she is the youngest of their four daughters.

Funded by the Ministry of Youth Welfare and Sports and in collaboration with the Indian Mountain Ring Foundation, 12 mountaineers under the Everest Massif Expedition began their mission on April 1 to climb the four peaks of Mount Everest.

Savita who works as an instructor at the Nehru Institute of Mountaineering (NIM) in Uttarkashi said that her aim going forward is to climb Earth's highest mountain.
