Tehri (Uttarakhand): New pictures have emerged from Uttarakhand where the all-weather road of Rishikesh-Gangotri National Highway 94 caved in and washed away due to heavy rains. The road between Fakot-Arakhal was washed away completely. In the picture, it can be seen that gushing streams of water have wiped away the all-weather road. Following the disaster, traffic movement on the route has come to a standstill. There is a long line of traffic jams on both sides of the road. Several people travelling from Rishikesh to Chamba are stuck on the road.

Questions are also being raised on the quality of the road construction and the work done by the construction company. The all-weather road construction is in full swing on the Rishikesh-Gangotri National Highway. Meanwhile, the officials of the National Highways Department have also reached the spot and examining the damage.

Uttarakhand is getting lashed away heavy rains for few days and this is leading to landslides and roads getting washed away. The Metrological Department's forecast is turning out to be accurate as it has been severely raining in the state for the last two days. Due to the severe rains, normal life has been disturbed. Travelling in the mountainous districts of Uttarakhand has also become riskier due to frequent landslides and roads getting washed away.
