Dehradun: National Crime Records Bureau released state-wise crime data for the year 2017 which showed that Uttarakhand is among those states where the crime rate is less.
According to statistics, Uttarakhand ranked fourth lowest in terms of total cognizable crime incidents in the country.
Meanwhile, the state ranked second along with Rajasthan, in the list of 'percentage of recovery of stolen property'.
A total of 12889 cases were filed in Uttarakhand under the Indian Penal Code in 2017 and the rate of total Cognizable Crime stood at 119.3 per cent.
Director General of Law and Order Ashok Kumar has expressed satisfaction with the NCRB figures of 2017.
Regarding the case of increasing cybercrime in Uttarakhand, Ashok Kumar said that cybercrime is an emerging threat and Uttarakhand Police is continuously taking necessary actions.
"Uttarakhand Police have been registering cybercrime cases due to which the number of cybercrime is more visible than before," said Kumar.
The National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) was established in 1986 to serve as a storehouse of information about a host of crimes and criminals.
