Samples of two sick elephants; dead leopard sent for COVID-19 test

Following the guidelines issued by the centre, samples of two sick elephants and a dead leopard have been sent from Rajaji National Park for the COVID-19 test as a precautionary measure.

Dehradun (U'khand): Amid fears that animals could also be infected with coronavirus, the samples of two sick elephants and a dead leopard from Rajaji National Park have been sent for the COVID-19 test.

The Government of India has issued a high alert in this regard in all zoos and reserve parks.

However, the Rajaji National Park administration is describing this as a precautionary step.

While talking to ETV Bharat, Rajaji National Park Director Amit Verma said that following the guidelines issued by the centre, samples of two sick elephants and a dead leopard has been sent from Rajaji National Park for the COVID-19 test.

After a tigress in New York being tested positive for coronavirus, fear of COVID-19 spreading among animals has emerged worldwide.
