Uttarakhand cops thrust bike key on youth's forehead; 3 suspended

Three cops who were on patrolling duty have been suspended after they brutally attacked a youth and stabbed on his forehead with a bike key. The matter has been handed over to Bajpur CO for further investigation.

Rudrapur: In a recent development to the incident wherein policemen on patrolling duty thrashed a youth brutally and stabbed a bike key on his forehead during an argument in Uttrakhand's Rudrapur, Udham Singh Nagar SSP Daleep Singh Kunwar on Tuesday suspended three policemen, including a Sub Inspector and two police constables involved in the incident.

The incident took place at Rampura on Monday evening after a heated argument broke out between the bike-borne youth and the City Patrol Unit (CPU) personnel for not wearing a helmet and violating traffic rules.

During the scuffle, the CPU personnel thrashed the youth brutally following which his family members along with locals created a ruckus at the police station demanding action against them.

The mob also pelted stones at police personnel leaving them hurt following which police resorted to mild lathi-charge to disperse them.

The investigation of the case has been handed over to CO Bajpur.

On being informed, local MLA Rajkumar Thukral spoke to SSP Kunwar following which the matter also reached DG law and order Ashok Kumar. Taking cognizance of the incident, Kumar suspended all three personnel with immediate effect and handed over the matter to Bajpur CO for further investigation.

SSP Kunwar has also appealed to the people not to violate law and order and maintain peace in the region.
