Dehradun: Atleast five people were arrested on Friday from Dehradun for allegedly killing Abdul Shukar, a businessman hailing from Kerala, after he denied sharing his Bitcoin cryptocurrency password with the accused.
Four other accused are still at large.
During investigation police found that the deceased and the nine accused men were business partners involved in a 485 crore cryptocurrency fraud case in Kerala, and all ten of them moved to Dehradun after the investors started demanding returns.
The incident came to light on August 28 when Max hospital authorities contacted the police informing them about some people leaving a dead body unattended at the hospital.
"The accused murdered Abdul and took the dead body to Max Hospital and escaped one by one leaving the deceased at the hospital," Police said.
After going through the CCTV footage from the hospital, the police found the car which was used by the accused men for bringing Abdul Shukur's body to the healthcare facility.
"We traced the car, and found a dairy and some other documents from the vehicle through which we were able to establish Abdul Shukur's identity," said a police official.
