Haridwar: The Haridwar-Roorkee Development Authority (HRDA) has launched an initiative of painting the trees around the Har Ki Pauri area to increase the aesthetics and ensure environmental protection of Haridwar.
Trees with colourful pictures of Hindu deities such as Lord Shiva, Lord Ganesh and others, stand tall in increasing the city's charm.
"As Maha Kumbh is due in 2021, we saw it as a chance to spread the message of environmental protection to people who reached Haridwar from India and abroad," said HRDA's VC Alok Pandey.
Due to its spiritual significance, Haridwar welcomes millions of devotees every year.
Around 10-15 crore devotees are expected to turn up for Maha Kumbh 2021.
