Uttarkashi: While the first phase of polling is inching closer, ECI's efforts to popularise its campaign to bring out voters from their homes to cast their votes has spread to every nook and corner of the country. This is quite evident as the students from the far-flung Angel School in Matli of hill town Uttarkashi took the endeavour of the commission to the masses.
On Thursday, students gathered near Kandar Devta temple as part of an awareness camp to encourage the people in Uttarkashi to come out of their houses in large numbers for voting.
They displayed placards and urged citizens to exercise their franchise on polling day. They tried to win over the voters singing songs in tune with a band and administered the oath of voting, saying that every citizen has right to vote. Students asked people to vote for strong leadership and for the growth of India.
