Def Min visits Pilot Negi's residence in Dehradun

Dehradun: Amid tight security, Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Tuesday arrived at Sqadron leader Siddharth Negi's residence, who was killed after a Mirage-2000 fighter crash in Bengaluru. Sitharaman paid respect to the officer and met his family.

Uttarakhand Chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat was also present.

Squadron Leader Negi's body was cremated on Saturday with full military honours by the Air force in the presence of his family.

Two senior pilots of the Indian Air Force died after a Mirage-2000 fighter crashed in Bengaluru on Friday.

Negi's senior colleague Squadron Leader Samir Abrol from Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh was the other test pilot who died in the crash.

An ace fighter pilot, Negi was on deputation over six months to the IAF Aircraft and Systems Testing Establishment (ASTE) as a test pilot from his unspecified air base.

Abrol, who was commissioned in 2008, was also on deputation to the ASTE as a test pilot over six months from his unspecified air base.
