British couple go viral for their 'Desi' wedding in Uttarakhand

Aphrodite Nanda and Shivananda's wedding garnered a lot of attention after they got married in accordance with Uttarakhand's vibrant culture and tradition in Rudraprayag district. The humble wedding took place as per the region's customs at the Triyuginarayan temple, where it is believed Lord Shiva married Goddess Parvati.

In a total affirmation with the past, a couple from England recently got married at Triyuginarayan temple in Rudraprayag district.

The duo was seen dressed in Uttarakhand's traditional apparel- the bride wore a nose ring and a bright red saree, while the groom donned yellow dhoti kurta and a black pahadi topi (Uttarakhand's traditional cap).

The humble wedding took place as per the region's customs at the Triyuginarayan temple, where it is believed Lord Shiva married Goddess Parvati. A unique feature of this temple is a perpetual fire, that burns in front of the shrine.

According to wedding planner Ranjana Rawat, the recently wedded foreign couple admire India's culture and wanted to tie the knot in a customary fashion.

The couple- Aphrodite Nanda and Shivananda- hails from the United Kingdom and South Africa, respectively.

Aphrodite Nanda and Shivananda's wedding adds to the list of two dozen couples who have had their nuptials solemnised in the spiritual ambience of Triyuginarayan temple, which is also known as Akhand Dhuni temple.
