Acid attack survivor pleads for compensation of five lakhs. High Court takes a strong stance, directs the government to clarify the situation by 20th May.

Nainital: A victim of acid attack filed a petition in Uttrakhand High Court. The victim pleaded for compensation of five lakhs. She told the court that the reimbursement money given to her by the government was not enough for her treatment.

The victim who is a resident of Udham Singh Nagar was attacked on November 29, 2014. Due to lack of funds, she was not given proper medical treatment. The victim's ears are still damaged and need medical attention. The case was heard in a one-sided conference by Justice Alok Singh.

Government authorities claim that only 1.5 lakh rupees can be given as an aid to victims, which the court has considered very little.

The court has directed the government to clarify the situation by May 20.
