Ranikhet: A contingent of 151 new recruits joined Indian Army when they passed out from the Kumoan and Naga regimental centre, Ranikhet on Saturday.
The attestation parade of the contingent was held at the historic Major Somnath ground here. After the parade, ceremonial oath taking ceremony was held.
Colonel K K Sharma, was invited as the chief guest and the reviewing officer to the parade.
On the occasion, the chief guest said, life of soldier is full of difficulties and a soldier never backs out in sacrificing his life for the country.
Soldiers from Uttarakhand also known as 'Devbhoomi' have made the state as well as the country proud by their bravery and sacrifices, he said.
He hoped that the newly-recruited jawans will maintain the great traditions of the Army.
Lieutenant Colonel Amit Dhaka, Lieutenant Colonel Madhur Thapa, Major DP Singh, Major Sumukh MS, Subedar Major Laxman Singh, Subedar Tara Singh were also present at the swearing-in ceremony.
The chief guest honoured around six recruiters who did well during the training.
