Sambhal (Uttar Pradesh): In a shocking incident, a man and a woman were tied to a tree and beaten up brutally in Uttar Pradesh's Sambhal on Thursday. The village women pushed the victim woman into the roadside drain and abused her. The incident took place at the Kharkwari village in the Junwai police station area. A video of the incident went viral on social media.
Taking cognizance of the video, the police arrested the five accused in connection with the case. In the video, the villagers were seen beating up the woman and the youth by tying them to a tree with a rope. At the same time, some people were dragging the woman and beating her up mercilessly.

According to Superintendent of Police (SP) Chakresh Mishra, a case has been registered against Rajneesh, Rajkumar, Raju and Chhote, residents of Kharkwari village, under various Sections based on the complaint of the victim woman. Superintendent of Police Chakresh Mishra said that based on the viral video a case has been registered under Sections 147, 149, 342, 324, 323, 504 and 506.
He said that five people, including women, have been arrested in this case. He said that the victim woman, along with a village resident, Ashok were building a hut when some people suddenly reached there and started beating the woman. When Ashok came to rescue her, the accused thrashed him as well. The SP said that the five accused in this case have been arrested after being identified from the viral video.
