Shepherds find 'abducted' woman in UP forest

According to reports the woman was abducted, raped and held hostage in a forest for three months in Mirzapur before shepherds found her and called the police.

Mirzapur (Uttar Pradesh): A woman who went in missing in Uttar Pradesh has been found in an unconscious state in a forest and sent for medical treatment, reports said.

According to reports the woman was abducted, raped and held hostage in a forest for three months in Mirzapur. On June 7 two shepherds found the woman after her kidnappers abandoned her believing that she was dead. Later she was taken to a public health centre in Patera.

Reports said the woman went missing on March 1 and her husband lodged a complaint at the Lalgang police station. But police took action only after her family posted their complaint on the state chief minister's portal, the woman's husband said.

Police officer Seema Singh recorded the victim's statement and SP Ajay Kumar said that a case has been registered and action will be taken against the accused.
