Kannauj: A woman, mother of two children, was divorced by her husband by using the outlawed practice of instant Triple Talaq in Gursahaiganj city of the district, sources said.
Interacting with ETV Bharat, victim Roshni Begum said she had some dispute over money with her husband Muhammad Khalid which led to arguments and he after uttering Talaq thrice threw her out of the house.
"The incident took place on October 12, when my husband, who was instigated by my mother-in-law to get married once again, divorced her and threw her out of the house," she said, adding that they even threatened to kill her.
She said that she reported the matter to the police but there has been no action on her complaint as yet.
Begum, who was married to Khalid five years ago, said that their marriage was solemnized according to the Islamic tradition and culture, and her father had given a lot of things in dowry.
There seems to be no decline in such cases in Uttar Pradesh even after the Parliament of India declared the practice of Triple Talaq illegal and unconstitutional in July last year. It was made a punishable act from 1 August 2019 which is deemed to be in effect from 19 September 2019.
